The Fiftieth General Assembly and technical meeting of the Tantalum Niobium International Study Center (TIC) took place in Tallinn, Estonia from the 18th -21st of October, 2009.  It was with great pleasure that AS Silmet was able to host this important conference celebrating 35 years of the dedication and hard work that the TIC and its members have provided to the world of high technology.  Approximately 180 people from all over the world attended this auspicious occasion. The programme of the conference included technical presentations, a plant tour of AS Silmet, and various sightseeing tours and “hands-on” activities for the accompanying guests.

 

   After the first day of technical sessions, all delegates and guests were invited to the traditional TIC Gala dinner.  Due to the TIC’s special anniversaries, the President of the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Toomas-Hendrick Ilves and his wife attended the Gala Dinner which was an honour for both the TIC as well as for AS Silmet.

 

   After the tour of the factory of AS Silmet and Sillamäe Port, which was the closing event of the conference, participants were invited by AS Silmet to enjoy a medieval lunch in the castle of the Order of Livonian Knights in the city of Rakvere.
